We run a company offering services of app development in California, however, this does not mean we aren’t users and admirers of other apps available on the market. One of our favorites is the Kindle app, built for avid readers and book lovers.
It’s probably not the first time you hear about Amazon Kindle. This is a series of e-book readers produced and commercialized by Amazon. The core value of a Kindle is to offer the reader a great reading experience, by enabling him to use a few great functions of the gadget, like adding notes, highlighting and sharing quotes from the book he reads. More than this, a Kindle can be used online, in order to read all sort of media content and to buy and download books. No wonder readers love the Kindle app so much, as this is one of the “children” of the original product. With this specific app, the user does not need to own a Kindle e-reader in order to use the system the original gadget comes with.
A tablet or a smartphone is more than enough; a mobile app like this could help you have an entire library at your fingertips, ready to be read whenever you have time. One of the advantages of the app is that with it you can browse through about… one million books! And if you are not in the mood for literature, you can use it to read your favorite magazines.
The dictionary of the app, a built-in dictionary, can help you look for the words you don’t know in a matter of seconds, which is a great time-saver. You won’t have to exit the app neither for Google, nor for Wikipedia because you won’t have to close the book while searching for the terms you need explained.
The Kindle app has another feature you need to consider when choosing a reading app: a synchronization option that will help you pick up the book were you were left it, even if you continue reading it from another device. You can switch to Mac, BlackBerry or PC (and the list can go on) and keep all your notes thanks to a technology developed by Kindle, named Whispersync.
And if you plan buying a book, but you are not sure about your decision, make a smart choice: sample the books by reading a chapter for free. If buying is not an option for you, you can always borrow the volumes you want from your local library in e-reading format.
As mentioned earlier, we are great in developing apps ourselves, but we also recognize a great app when we see it and use it. And in our opinion, the Kindle app is one of the best offered to readers.
